20 years of keeping the army comfortable
The army do one of the toughest jobs in the world – but the front-line troops are often let down by poor-quality uniform. It’s a challenge that one of Dragon Supplies Ltd based in our Colchester Business and Seedbed Centre has capitalised on – enabling them to build a successful business by helping the heroes.
Supplying quality
Established in 1999, Dragon Supplies Ltd has grown to become one of the largest suppliers of military clothing and equipment to customers in the UK and abroad, providing higher quality kits and uniforms to soldiers, reserves and cadets. Founder Gary Day says this is because they recognise the problem facing soldiers, reserves and cadets: “They’re given kit, but it’s never good enough for them.”
Started over a coffee table 10 years ago, Dragon Supplies has grown by offering quality products with value for money and excellent customer service. With products ranging from webbing to jackets, from boots to badges and helmet accessories to ammo pouches, they now employ three staff members in their Capital Space workshop who contribute to the materials and designs chosen for the uniforms: “The real engine of the business is the girls who do the embroidery. They are the true heroes of what we do, allowing us to sell to the heroes.”
Supported by excellent business accommodation
The company has been at the Colchester Business and Seedbed Centre for a number of years: “We left to go to another business park a few years ago, but we hated it so we came back here. We like being here because it’s out of the way, it’s small, there’s a great atmosphere and we have neighbours who share the same mindset as us – they want their businesses to succeed. It’s a great community.
