Tailored office space for growing electrical company
Finding a workspace that works for you and for your business, in both the present and in the future, can be the key to success. In our latest customer story, we caught up with C&B Electrical Contractors Ltd to learn how they have gone from a team of its two founders Callum Biscoe and Ben Wilson, to 8+ employees and growing.
Building a small business
Business success doesn’t happen overnight, and often it’s a case of playing the long game and building up a good reputation, as Callum explains:
“We started out getting bank loans for two small vans, did a bit of a DIY job setting up a Facebook profile, got our mobile numbers printed on the back of the vans and then just touted for work continuously. We’d say ‘yes’ to even the smallest jobs, and at the beginning the reward was minimal but the idea was to stow away chips in the hope that it would pay off in the long run. And now we’ve got a decent fleet of vehicles, really good staff and we’ve created our first office.”
For Callum, the foundations of C&B Electrical Contractors Ltd lie in his passion for education: “I’m a big believer in educating staff. I love putting staff through training programmes and upskilling them. I think it helps to keep us versatile and at the top of our game.”
Tailored work space
By making your workspace work for you can improve productivity. We know that different businesses demand different features in their workspace. So, we do our best to help our customers tailor their space to suit their needs.
Callum explained how we assisted in the set-up of their office in our Milton Keynes Business Centre: “We finally built the office the way we wanted it. We’ve got our external branding on the windows, our sign up and then inside we’ve been able to optimise the space in our unit with both storage and office space. It’s worked out really well.
“We were drawn to Capital Space because it’s such a smart business park and our experience so far has been so different to what we have experienced before. One of our previous workspaces, I could only stay in for about a month before I moved out. I hated it. It was like a box: it was cold and miserable and people were always complaining. But at Capital Space, the team has been really helpful and supportive. Maintenance even put our sign up out front which was such a warm welcome.”
Business tips
We asked Callum to share any business tips he’s picked up since setting up C&B Electrical Contractors Ltd five years ago:
“Just be bold, be creative. The best advice I can give you is: be the best version of yourself, because if you try and imitate what somebody else is doing, you’ll never be the best version of somebody else. If you want to have a go at business, have a go: because, you know, you’re better off finding out that it doesn’t work out than wondering what if?”
