Movement is medicine
Training for a fulfilling career
After reading an article about osteopathy on the train, Mark decided it may be the ideal career for him.
“I have always had a passion for sports and fitness, and I really liked the idea of being able to help people mentally and physically. So, I put my head down and started working hard and gained qualifications in Osteopathy, Chinese acupuncture and Clinical Hypnosis.”
Since then, Mark has provided treatments to get his clients pain free, back to being healthy and doing the things they love.
“Not only do we try to fix the problem physically, but my sessions involve identifying why it happened in the first place. From that, I am able to advise on corrections in posture, sporting technique or movements to help the problem area.”
The mental strains of modern life
With mental illness increasing, Mark decided it was best to educate himself on the strain mental health can have on your body so he could offer support to his clients.
“You will be surprised about how much mental health, such as anxiety and depression, can cause strain on our bodies and vice versa. I am able to work with my clients and offer them support and changes in their lifestyle to help them feel better. Exercise always helps, no matter the problem, keeping your body moving is so important.”
Accessible space for his valued clients
With Mark’s need for practicality, he realised Capital Space was the perfect place for him.
“St George’s Business Park was a lot more practical for the needs of my business. First of all, there was a guaranteed parking spot, which was a great change from having to fight for a spot in my last place! I am also on the ground floor and have double access doors which is important for my business as I have clients who are in wheelchairs or have mobility problems.”
Making Capital Space connections
Mark has found that being surrounded by other thriving companies and becoming a part of the Capital Space community has helped his business grow.
“From having chats with people in the kitchen and through word of mouth on site, I now treat people from the building. I definitely think Capital Space is a good place to network, I have gained more clients since being here.”
Tips for a healthy business
As a thriving business owner, with 30 years of experience, Mark gives us his advice for success:
“The most important thing, in my opinion, is to know what you want to accomplish; setting goals is a great place to start. Then you must carefully consider how you will reach those goals while being realistic. Success will come your way if you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve and are willing to put the effort in!”
