What our customers are looking forward to in 2022
Another year has rolled by, and our Capital Space customers are looking forward to a prosperous 2022. We have spent 2021 supporting and admiring our customer’s hard work and dedication to their businesses’ success. Here, we look back on our success story contributors’ comments, to give you a picture of the bright future ahead.
Covid challenges made businesses better
Many businesses have spent the last year adapting to survive, which has been challenging and scary for most. However, with the pandemic beginning to recede, the businesses who successfully adjusted to their new conditions now look set to be stronger than ever. For example, bailiffs turned security specialists MS Webb lost over half their business in 2020 due to the government bringing in a strict ban on debt recovery.
“Commercial rent recovery and repossessions was about sixty-five percent of our turnover so to suddenly lose that was absolutely devastating. We had to do something quickly, so we branched out into protection. There were more and more empty shops and offices, so we saw an opportunity there. We provided their security, alarms and on-site patrols.”
After successfully recalibrating their core business model they began to thrive in their newfound security service industry. And they are ready to push on again in 2022, with the aim to recoup losses made in their debt recovery services and build on the robust gains in security services, bolstering their business even further.
Face-to-face retail is coming back
Online shopping has become an even bigger part of our everyday life since Covid-19 hit, but there is a strong sentiment that people want to get back to life as it was before and see the value in face-to-face interactions at Capital Space business centres. Angela set up Nut Free Living after her own nut allergy experience with her eldest daughter. Initially an online store, Nut Free Living were welcomed into Waterhouse Business Centre in April of this year.
“At the moment, 90% of my orders are click and collect or postal but I hope to become more of a retailer. Being able to talk to customers in person in the shop is something I would love to be able to do. Introducing them to new forums to help them live with their allergies or giving them advice on different products that have helped my family would be really rewarding for me.”
The only way is up in 2022
We pride ourselves on a diverse range of workspaces, from workout studios to office spaces we can give your business the space it needs to thrive, and with flexible contracts we always do our utmost to retain our happy customers however much they grow! Customers like the ever-ambitious Lorna Cole, who brought Fitness Fever to our Chelmsford site in the summer of last year as she had outgrown the business’ previous space.
“From those first trampoline fitness classes, it’s just kept growing. I now offer boxing and weights classes, as well as a total body workout. I am hoping to expand this even further in the future, adding more people to the team, more variety to the classes and maybe even a bigger unit at the business centre to help more of our customers get moving!”
We look forward to her ongoing success and supporting her business’ growth
Survival of the fittest
Growth is something we champion at each and every Capital Space business centre. We have loved seeing companies grow and evolve throughout 2021 after a highly unpredictable year in 2020. With our flexible workspace our customers can scale up (or down) as and when they need to. For instance, Kings Hill Beauty was forced to close in 2020 but are now back up and running in Churchill Square Business Centre- even opening an extra suite. “We are so proud that we were able to open an additional suite and we’re even looking to have a Beauty Academy in 2022. It’s great that we were able to take a challenging year and turn it into something positive!”
We’re excited to see what 2022 will bring for our customers and we look forward to supporting them across all our business centres.
