Networking opportunity for female entrepreneurs
We are delighted to share the launch of our latest initiative to support local entrepreneurs: Ladies Who Latte. Set up to support female entrepreneurs looking for inspiration, guidance, and new connections, the group will be hosted monthly from our Croydon centre.
The importance of a female-led networking group
According to The Gender Index, despite some modest growth, the proportion of UK business held by female-led companies still only sits at 20.39%. Now, the reasons for this are many: women face unique challenges, obstacles and responsibilities, be they historical, cultural or personal.
However, a Forbes article has conveniently whittled the list down to the top eight challenges that face women in business, citing at number four: an “Inadequate Support System”. We all know that in business who you know is often as powerful as what you know. Strong business connections aid growing businesses by creating new leads, or opportunities, acting as a sounding board for ideas, providing mentorship and support, both personally and professionally.
This is what we hope to create with our South Croydon Ladies Who Latte: a network of expert female entrepreneurs, who can embolden and support one another through the trials and triumphs of running a business.
How can I join South Croydon Ladies Who Latte?
South Croydon Ladies Who Latte will have our first session at 10am on 7 October 2024, at Capital Business Centre Croydon, in the Crocus Valley meeting room. The women’s networking session is open to Capital Space residents and non-residents alike. We hope to become a source of inspiration for all local female entrepreneurs and create a bustling hub of female-led business throughout Croydon and the surrounding areas.
The group will meet on the first Monday of every month, from 10am till noon, and will be hosted by centre manager Krystyna Sitarz and marketing manager Tina Edwin. Krystyna and Tina are two women who really know their way around business and are excited to share their expertise with others.
Krystyna said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity for our local female entrepreneurs, whether they occupy workspace here or not, to come together for inspiration, ideas and support, whether they’re growing a business or considering starting their own venture.
“This will be an informal set-up so people can lean on each other for advice, ask questions or share their own business tips and guidance. We would like it to become a regular fixture in every businesswoman’s calendar in Croydon.”
We really do look forward to seeing as many inspirational women as possible on 7 October at 10am at Capital Business Centre, Croydon. Everyone is welcome to attend the event, which is free. Teas and coffees will also be available, with plenty of free parking on site.
