What kind of workspace is the right workspace for you?
Traditionally, when choosing where to set up shop, business owners would focus on things like the price of rent or the location of their workspace. However, today’s businesses are as unique as the people who own them. From hybrid or remote working to in-house production, the right next step is not always clear cut, particularly for young businesses.
At our business centres, we offer several different types of workspace, namely offices, studios and workshops. Here are the reasons our customers love these different types of space.
Offices
Office spaces are the perfect option for any business that primarily operates from standard desktop computers or laptops. They can accommodate more employees in each square footage than other types of spaces. Traditionally, a business owner would sign an annual lease, if not longer, simply to set up shop within a given space of an office building. But modern businesses require more than an empty space. This is why we offer serviced offices.
Serviced offices are a great option for any business owner who wants to save time and minimise their moving and set-up costs. Instead of asking business owners to source their own Wi-Fi, and to buy their own printers, copiers or shredders, serviced offices come already up and running with everything you need to get to work. All you need to do is turn up and plug in. Our offices, for example, all come with superfast internet and business support services from the on-site reception team. Better still, they offer flexibility thanks to our simple, rolling, monthly licence.
As Chris of Centre Healthcare at our Croydon centre says, “Our experience with Capital Space has been amazing. Since moving into our new office a few months ago, the team has been very welcoming and readily available to assist us with settling in. The premises are very well maintained, the atmosphere is friendly, and the office spaces are great.”
We also have free, secure on-site parking and other facilities to help you you meet access requirements for your employees and clients.
This is valued by Christian Rouse of Morgan Sindall, customer of our Waterhouse Business Centre. “There is excellent parking and facilities including a lift/WC for disabled access.”
All our centres have multi-purpose meeting rooms available to book by the hour.
As Andy Morts says about our Churchill Square Business Centre: “A great place to have an office. The Capital Space staff are friendly and very accommodating, with an array of additional facilities available to use if necessary. All facilities are of a premium quality and very well maintained with clean and tidy communal areas.”
Studios
Our studios are versatile workspaces, with a dedicated entrance door and a dedicated space for branding above the door. In general, we’d recommend studio space to business which require storage space, those requiring a mix of office space and room for specialist equipment, enterprises requiring a showroom to display their products or client-facing businesses who want to provide direct, independent access to their customers.
Other clients simply need the space to create, like Brian Glynn of EOS Lighting Solutions who has a studio in Greenway Business Centre. He says: “The centre and facilities are excellent. The on-site café is fabulous, and the staff here are second to none. Our office space has its own front door with our signage, and it gives us a huge amount of flexibility with 24-hour access. Capital Space are also a very conscientious, sustainable company with works perfectly with our own ethos.”
Workshops
Workshops offer the ideal space for light industrial usage. Thanks to our flexibility, many of our customers have transformed their workshops with the installation of small offices, mezzanine levels, showrooms or space for machinery and storage.
These are great for businesses that are producing inventory in-house or need to store substantial amounts of inventory or big inventory items.
Toyin, from Pius Vita Superfoods, Capital Business Centre, says of her workshop: “I use the space as a warehouse. But also, I’ve kept a little bit of space for my office, so I’ve got my desk and computer set up. We do a bit of packaging in there and shipping. As an entrepreneur, the flexibility is great because if it’s not working out, I can just say I’ve got to go. And if I want to expand, I can always say, I need a bigger space. When I visited the centre, I thought this looks neat and comfortable. I just want something simple, tidy, and easy to get to.”
Workshops also suit organisations that require large or heavy machinery to operate. This includes forklifts and industrial machinery, but we also have gyms and physical fitness businesses operating out of our workshop spaces.
Callum, from C&B Electrical at Milton Keynes Business Centre told us: “The team has been helpful and supportive. Maintenance even put our sign up out front which was such a warm welcome. We’ve been able to optimise the space in our unit with both storage and office space. It’s worked out really well.”
