Almost £2,000 raised for local charities at Christmas
The festive period can be a tough time for many, so we are proud to give back to the local community. Each December, Capital Space, with the support of our wonderful business centres and customers, raise money for several different charities.
Charities continue to struggle
In a similar vein to our 2021 charity update, the charity sector continues to face an uphill battle. The Omicron variant has drastically increased the rate of infections and in turn, isolations. The generally older workforce of charities has meant staffing physical spaces is a challenge. Hopefully, 2022 can further propel us into the much coveted ‘post-pandemic’ era.
Our festive pledge
Each business centre chose a charity to support and raise money for, starting with £250 each from Capital Space. We are pleased to see new charities that were supported last month as well as two that have been chosen for 2022. Below you’ll find the details of the 2021 festive fundraiser:
- Churchill Square Business Centre, Kings Hill: £500 raised for Heart of Kent Hospice
- Greenway Business Centre, Harlow: £250 raised for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance
- Loughton Seedbed Centre, Loughton: £270 raised for Haven House Children’s Hospice
- Waterhouse Business Centre, Chelmsford: £280 raised for Farleigh Hospice who provide care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across mid Essex
New charities for 2021/2022
Milton Keynes Business Centre supported Hula Animal Welfare in Bedfordshire, donating £350 for the Christmas period. Another new addition to 2021 was homeless charity Nightwatch, who received £250 courtesy of Capital Business Centre in Croydon.
St George’s Business Park in Sittingbourne will continue to raise funds for Curly’s Legacy who we featured in last year’s review.
Looking forward to this year, Churchill Square have selected two charities to support throughout the year. They are Abigail’s Footsteps and Slide Away. Both benefited from a donation recently as a result of a Valentine’s Wine Tasting for Beginners event held for customers at the square. Harlow also have a new charity in place for 2022, choosing St Clare Hospice.
In total, Capital Space and our business centres have raised close to £2,000 for our chosen charities. We hope this will increase in 2022 as we, hopefully, can return to a more consistent schedule of charity events as the year goes on.
