Community impact: Celebrating our charitable partnerships in 2024 and 2025
At Capital Space, each of our centres has a local charity that they partner with for the year to raise money. It is vital for us that we support our local communities, and what is a better way than working alongside some incredible charities?
Throughout 2024, our centres have hosted many events such as bake sales, game nights, summer events, sponsored walks and Christmas parties to raise over £5500 for a range of good causes.
Many of our centres have created such strong bonds with their chosen charities this year that they have chosen to continue working with them:
Milton Keynes Business Centre
Milton Keynes Business Centre raised £1122 for Harry’s Rainbow. This is a local charity that supports bereaved children and focuses on bringing children and families in similar situations together to help relieve loneliness.
Loughton Seedbed Centre
This year Loughton Seedbed Centre raised £480 for the Essex Dementia Care where they help create and maintain a social and healthy lifestyle for people who struggle with Dementia.St George’s Business Park
St George’s Business Park in Sittingbourne raised £220 for MenTalk Health – this local charity supports men who are struggling with their mental health by hosting meetings where they can discuss a range of topics from addiction, emotional trauma and family or relationship issues.
Greenway Business Park in Harlow
In 2024 Greenway Business Park in Harlow raised £820 for the Butterfly Effect Wellbeing charity that supports people struggling with their mental health. The businesses in this centre are excited to continue raising money for them in 2025.
Deputy centre manager Michelle Sipthorpe said: “Our vote for our charity of the year 2025 saw the majority of people want to continue supporting Butterfly Effect Wellbeing. Thanks to everyone’s nominations. We look forward to raising even more, much needed funds for them next year.”
Collaborating with new charities in 2025
Waterhouse Business Centre
Our Waterhouse Business Centre in Chelmsford raised £1308 for InterAct this year and is excited to raise as much for Basics Essex moving into 2025.
Sharon Dodson, the centre manager described how they chose their new charity: “We emailed all of our customers, asking them for their nominations for charity of the year 2025. We received four nominations and so we asked our customers to vote for their favourite. After a voting frenzy and a very close first and second choice, we finally have a charity of the year for 2025 which is Basics Essex. They are volunteer doctors and paramedics that arrive to 999 calls before an ambulance.”
Capital Business Centre
Our business centre in Croydon has chosen to partner with Croydon Animal Samaritans, a local charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in need. Their work helps ensure that animals receive the love, care, and attention they deserve, and they play a vital role in promoting animal welfare in our community.
Centre manager Krystyna Sitarz said: “Throughout the year, we will be working together to raise funds and awareness for this wonderful cause. Stay tuned for upcoming initiatives, events, and ways you can get involved to help make a difference! We would like to work together to give back to our community and support animals in need.”
Churchill Square Business Centre
This year our Churchill Square Business Centre in Kings Hill raised £1,573 for Gillingham Street Angels who work with people experiencing food poverty, homelessness and financial difficulties.
Following a vote amongst customers, the centre will support Spadework in 2025, a charity based in nearby Offham which supports adults with learning disabilities to develop their independence and personal skills through meaningful activities such as horticulture, woodwork and working in the onsite kitchen learning how to cook food.
Centre manager Toni Wilkinson said: “We had a shortlist of charities, but our customers voted overwhelmingly to support Spadework. We’re looking forward to throwing our weight into a year-round fundraising for this charity, where many of our green-fingered customers shop for their gardens.”
