Investing in our customers: Enhancing facilities across our business centres

Posted by Sharp Minds on 3rd February 2025, 11:11am

At Capital Space, we understand the importance of creating environments that support productivity, comfort, and professionalism. That’s why we are constantly investing in our facilities to ensure our customers benefit from modern, well-maintained, and welcoming spaces.

During 2024 we completed several improvement projects across our sites, plus we joined groups that encourage customers to network with other businesses in the area.

Churchill Square Business Centre

At Churchill Square, we focused on refurbishment, exterior improvements and redecorating:

  • Refurbishment: Boiler systems were upgraded, along with air conditioning installations in seven blocks. A new speed ramp and updated fire alarms were introduced to improve safety and accessibility.
  • Exterior: To improve the outdoor environment, we repaired the car park, installed a welcome board, and upgraded the drainage systems for Buildings 60 and 30. Additionally, a freshly redecorated bench outside Building 40 adds a welcoming touch.
  • Redecoration: We transformed the communal corridor in Building 80, redecorated the meeting and upgraded the TV in Meteor meeting room.

Churchill Square has also joined the local Women in Business Network for Maidstone and Kings Hill after Toni Wilkinson the , the centre manager, attended an event. The network aims to create opportunities for female business owners to network and share ideas.

Toni’s first meeting was a great success: “I was a bit nervous being surrounded by so many accomplished women, each with their own incredible journeys in life and business, but I quickly realised I had nothing to fear. The atmosphere was so welcoming, and the support and acceptance from these amazing women was truly empowering.”

She added: “I’m excited to attend future events to continue building my confidence, and I’m eager to share more about how Churchill Square Business Centre can help fellow entrepreneurs with meeting room usage, office space, or virtual services. Here’s to many more connections and opportunities to support one another!”

These improvements, as well as the addition of the WIBN, make Churchill Square an even more efficient and comfortable environment for all our customers to grow their businesses.

Capital Business Centre

At Capital Business Centre, we’ve taken significant steps to modernise and future-proof the site:

  • Refurbishment: Modernisation of kitchen facilities ensures a welcoming, functional space for customers and visitors to enjoy.
  • Redecoration: We invested in LED lighting with motion sensors to lower energy consumption and enhance our sustainability efforts.

Looking ahead, we’re partnering with a new gardening company to ensure our pockets of green space looks amazing all year round.

Greenway Business Centre

Greenway Business Centre has benefited from functional and aesthetic improvements:

  • Refurbishment: We repaired and redecorated the Block B toilets, kitchen, and corridors, and replaced flooring in Block D to create a modern, refreshed look.
  • Exterior: The entrance to the centre received professional cleaning and a refreshed smoking shelter, boosting the overall first impression for customers and visitors.

In 2025, we’ll continue these efforts with plans for further refurbishments and updates to communal spaces.

Milton Keynes Business Centre

Sustainability is at the heart of our Milton Keynes Business Centre improvements.

  • Eco-friendly upgrades: We’ve brightened the centre with raised planters, converted the smoking shelter into a cycle store with a green ‘living’ roof, and replaced waste compound doors with robust, recycled materials. These green initiatives improve both the aesthetics and the environmental footprint of our centre.
  • Refurbishment: The kitchens and toilets have been redecorated, and a new reception desk has been fitted to offer a modern, welcoming entrance for visitors. A large meeting room has also undergone significant renovation.
  • Security: We have installed additional CCTV systems, ensuring the safety and security of our customers and their businesses.

St George’s Business Park

At St George’s Business Park, we’ve focused on security, exterior improvements, and technological upgrades.

  • New locks: We invested £20,000 in new suited locks across the site, improving security for all units.
  • Exterior improvements: A site-wide deep clean and fresh coat of paint has revitalised the park, complemented by the installation of eco-friendly benches made from recycled plastic.
  • Broadband upgrade: Fibre broadband upgrades will ensure faster, more reliable internet, boosting speeds by 33%, with potential further increases to 100Mbps.

Loughton Seedbed Centre

Our Loughton Seedbed Centre has undergone extensive upgrades to modernise the facilities and enhance security.

  • Workshops: Roof panels, insulation, and electronic roller shutters have been upgraded across multiple blocks. Fibre optic cabling has been installed, enhancing connectivity.
  • Modern security: We replaced the analogue CCTV system with an IP-based system, covering the entire site with 19 cameras.
  • Fresh design: New flooring and ceiling lights were installed in key corridors, brightening and modernising the internal spaces.

Waterhouse Business Centre

Sustainability, customer experience, and aesthetics have been the focus at Waterhouse Business Centre.

  • Eco-friendly landscaping: We’ve invested heavily in landscaping to create a greener, more inviting atmosphere, while additional solar panels and sensor lights improve efficiency and security.
  • Reception revamp: The reception area has been redecorated, and further improvements are planned, including new soft furnishings and meeting room refurbishments.
  • Roller shutters: Newly painted roller shutters greatly improve the external appearance of our workshops.

Moving into 2025, we want to continue with further upgrades to ensure we maintain high standards and meet the evolving needs of our customers.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions for how we can continue improving our centres to better serve your business needs, feel free to contact us.
