Why our customers are expanding, despite COVID
The Coronavirus pandemic has served as an unprecedented challenge for business throughout the UK, and indeed the world. Despite the turbulence that the past year and a half has had on the ways in which we work, we’ve had countless customers expand into additional units this year – here’s why.
The end of traditional office space?
When the pandemic struck and all bar essential UK businesses were forced to work from home or cease trading completely, many commentators predicted the end of the office sector as we know it. At Capital Space, we’ve seemingly bucked this trend, maintaining our occupancy throughout the pandemic and even having 21 of our existing customers expand into additional units during the first seven months of 2021 alone – a clear demonstration of their faith in our facilities and services!
As an office provider, we’re proud that we’ve had so many new and existing customers place their trust in us to be a stable home for their business during these testing times. So, what’s the secret behind our success? Well, it all comes down to flexibility.
Flexibility for the future
One of the most challenging aspects of the pandemic for businesses has been the unpredictability of it. Last Summer, one month we were enjoying a reinstatement of freedoms and a return to working from the office – the next, we were in another full lockdown, being told to work from home for the foreseeable future. This can make it hard for you as a business owner to predict where your business will be in a few months’ time, yet alone forecasting a whole year in advance…
At Capital Space, we’ve always promoted flexibility at the core of our ethos, abandoning traditional year-long, complicated and stringent leases in favour of a flexible, monthly rolling licence with our customers. Our licence fits onto one double-sided A4 document and is written in clear and simple language, to save you the costs of needing a lawyer to read for any hidden catches! Receiving the Crystal Mark of approval, it has helped to save business owners both time and money. What’s more, our offices, studios and workshops support the growth of your business, with the ability to easily expand to a bigger unit should you need it – just like the 21 business that’ve done just that already this year – or downsize, all without leaving the centre.
It’s the fact that our licences roll on a monthly basis that has been at the heart of our success throughout the pandemic, as it’s given our customers the flexibility to continue to hold workspace with us, confident that they will be able to terminate the licence should their circumstances change.
