Charities chosen by our business centres for fundraising in 2024
We are delighted to announce which charities have been nominated by our business centres as the focus of their fundraising efforts this year. Supporting local charities is heavily supported by Capital Space, to ensure we help to give back to the community and raise awareness of the great work that is happening nearby our workplace centres. We look forward to seeing the creative ways money is raised throughout the year by our customers and the business centre teams.
Churchill Square Business Centre
The team at Kings Hill will continue to support Gillingham Street Angels this year, who they raised £1,117 for last year. The charity supports homeless and vulnerable people in the Medway area and donations are used towards providing bedding and clothing for those living on the streets, food parcels and assisting these community members when applying for housing and jobs.
Capital Business Centre
For 2024, the team at Croydon will be supporting Alzheimer’s Society which provides vital support to people experiencing dementia, and their carers and families. As it can be such a complex condition, the expert support they offer over the phone and in person is invaluable, as well as their investment in research to discover new ways of treating and caring for dementia sufferers.
Greenway Business Centre
Butterfly effect WELLbeing has been chosen as this year’s charity by our Harlow team, which is a community-based organisation supporting people who are struggling with their mental health. They ‘strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that supports your personal journey to better health’ from their hub in Harlow, that offers a timetable of activities including meditation, gardening groups and therapy sessions, as well as wider community social events, such as quiz and bingo nights.
Waterhouse Business Centre
InterAct is a locally based charity which Waterhouse will be fundraising for this year. It supports young people with special needs as well as adults, young people and the carers of people suffering with poor mental health. They look to provide social networks alongside emotional and practical support with their inclusive weekly activities, including evening clubs and daytrips to locations in Essex, London and the Southeast.
John Blair, CEO of InterAct, says: “Waterhouse Business Centre’s kind offer to help support and promote our work will enable local families to better access our services for children. Their support will also help us to offer a range of activities, events to promote learning and social engagements for children and young people who would normally struggle to benefit from these opportunities.”
Milton Keynes Business Centre
The Milton Keynes Business Centre will be continuing their support for Harry’s Rainbow this year. Harry’s Rainbow is one of our own customers, making the cause close to home. The charity works to support bereaved children with support groups and provides individual tailored support, activities and trips.
Loughton Seedbed Centre
Essex Dementia Care is Loughton’s nominated charity this year. The charity cares for and supports dementia patients and offers a One2One service with a ‘memory companion’ to support day to day activities as well as activity day centres. They aim to offer support, friendship and guidance.
St George’s Business Park
Our Capital Space Enterprise Centre in Sittingbourne will be supporting MenTalk Health, a local charity which offers a free group meeting every week for men struggling with their mental health or going through a difficult time. They support issues from addiction, romantic and family difficulties as well as mental health conditions. They create a safe space for men to talk and share their issues, with the aim to help them work through their difficulties.
